Why we’re withdrawing our property factor service in some blocks
We are stopping our property factoring service at the following multi-storey blocks: Coillesdene House, Maidencraig Court and Saunders Street.
We’re withdrawing the service because we’re finding that the majority of owners in blocks will not agree to do repair work, which is causing issues with buildings falling into disrepair. This is becoming an increasing financial risk for us because of escalating costs for blocks where we cannot carry out repairs and because we need to pay the contractors upfront when we do have permission to proceed, before recouping the cost from owners.
Next steps
We’re finalising our withdrawal plan and will write to owners and residents in these blocks with further details about what is happening, how it affects them and to invite you to an information session.
Following the information sessions, we’ll write to you with a formal six-month notice of our withdrawal.
We understand that this may be disappointing news but want to assure you that we’re committed to supporting owners and residents if they choose to appoint a new property factor in their block. As an owner in the block, we would support the appointment of a new property factor.
