Strategic Development Plan

The Strategic Development Plan - SDP sets out the vision for the long term development of the south east of Scotland area. The plan is produced by SESPlan and covers six local authorities

  • Scottish Borders
  • East Lothian
  • Midlothian
  • West Lothian
  • Southern Fife,

The first SDP for 2009 to 2032 was approved by Scottish Ministers in June 2013.

Strategic Development Plan 2

SESplan's second Proposed Strategic Development Plan was submitted to Scottish Ministers for examination on Monday 26 June 2017. The examination of the plan commenced in August 2017.

On the 20 July 2018, the Planning and Environmental Appeals Division - DPEA completed their examination. View the SESplan report

On 16 May 2019, SESplan received notification that Scottish Ministers have decided to reject the plan. View the Scottish Ministers decision letter.
