Edinburgh Refresh - cleaning up our town centres

We’re investing a further £750,000 this year to give the city a deep clean so it continues to look its best for residents, visitors and businesses.

Teams have already carried out work in the city centre and a number of other areas and are now moving onto other town centres and priority areas. The extra crews are power washing streets, pavements, historic monuments and statues, stonework and place markings as well as removing chewing gum and using steam cleaners to remove weeds where needed. Our dedicated graffiti teams are also hitting the streets every day to keep Edinburgh looking good.

We’ll do our best to keep disruption to residents and businesses to a minimum.

Keep an eye out on social media for before and after photos as we work our way around the city.

We’ll use this page to keep you up to date with when we plan to be in your area, although do please be aware we might need to make late changes due to severe weather events, particularly during the winter months.
