Canongate Youth - Creative hub 

A vibrant multi-arts programme, where children and young people aged 12 to 17 years from all over Edinburgh can take part in free arts activities, learning skills in creative industries, and music. 

With weekly sessions and chances to perform, projects bring children and young people together with arts professionals from Scotland and abroad to work side by side on world-class projects and productions.  The Creative Hub is held on Fridays from 1.30pm to 4pm at

Edinburgh Youth Theatre 

Edinburgh Youth Theatre is a community where young people excel in theatre performance, grow in confidence, make lasting friendships and have fun.  Edinburgh Youth Theatre runs weekly youth theatre classes exploring the performing arts. These classes are based in Portobello and Dalry. Financially assisted places and holiday workshops are also available.

The Green Team – Green volunteers 

A programme for 12 to 18 year olds which is open to anyone and is the perfect way to connect with nature, yourself and others. Find out more about the natural world, contribute to some amazing conservation tasks and visit some fantastic places in and around Edinburgh. The programme is also great if you are doing your Duke of Edinburgh award. Green volunteers run on various Sundays throughout the year from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Prewired

If you are interested in learning to code or already know how and want to go even further, Prewired helps children and young people under 19 years of age of any skill level do just that.

Whether you want to work on Scratch, GameMaker, Python, websites, Lego robots and more. Sessions are for you to play, learn something new, practise something you already know, start a new project or even teach others.

There is no food or drinks allowed near the computers, but a small snack is provided in the middle of the session. It is good if you have your own laptop as you will be familiar with the software, but you can borrow one from Prewired.

Sessions are free and run on Wednesdays from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at

Cash Back Hubs - Impact Arts 

A 12-week programme for young people aged 14 to 19 years to learn new skills, improve physical and mental health, build confidence, and form friendships through creative engagement. The programme includes a whole range of art forms with trips to galleries and museums. Participants gain an SQA qualification with a celebration event at the end to showcase all their amazing work. No prior arts or creative experience is required for this project; it is a fun way to develop core transferable skills. The course is free with all materials, snacks and public transport costs provided. Sessions run on Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm at
