Urgent Action Needed Dangerous Potholes on Peffer Place Putting Road Users at Risk - Petitions (Open)

Petition details
We are calling on the City of Edinburgh Council to take urgent action to repair the deteriorating road surface on Peffer Place, which has now become a serious safety concern for motorists, businesses, residents and visitors. Peffer Place is a busy access road serving a significant number of local businesses, industrial units and residential properties, with a constant flow of cars, commercial vehicles, delivery vans and heavy goods vehicles. The road is now riddled with deep potholes and damaged surfaces, forcing drivers to swerve into the opposite side of the road to avoid potentially serious damage to their vehicles. This creates an unacceptable risk of collisions and puts drivers, passengers, cyclists and pedestrians in danger. The condition of the road is also having a direct impact on local businesses. Delivery drivers and suppliers are increasingly raising concerns about accessing premises, with some now indicating that they will refuse to make deliveries because of the dangerous road conditions. This threatens business operations, disrupts deliveries and places an unnecessary financial burden on businesses already facing challenging trading conditions. Peffer Place is an important route for local employment, commerce and the wider community. Its current condition is not only unacceptable but increasingly dangerous. We urge the City of Edinburgh Council to prioritise a full inspection and carry out lasting repairs to make Peffer Place safe and accessible for everyone who depends on it. Temporary patching is no longer sufficient. Urgent, meaningful action is needed before a serious accident occurs.
