Restrictions on HGVs and Construction traffic using Lauriston Farm Road - Petitions (Open)

The excessive use of Lauriston Farm Road (LFR) by construction traffic and HGV’s is disproportionate to the demand of the original design of the 1950’s.
Residents are proposing:
(1) construction traffic uses an alternative route of Queensferry Road, Ferry Road, Crewe Toll roundabout and to the West Granton Access. This route offers a more appropriate carriageway for the significant volume of HGV’s needing access to the sites at Granton.
(2) the installation of a speed camera on LFR LFR is already a busy road for car traffic, but it has become heavily congested due to the added volume of HGV’s (tipper lorries, cement mixers, scaffold lorries, skips) using the route daily from as early as 06:00 and late into the evening. Dangerous speeding, regularly over 30mph, is also an issue, making it unsafe for pedestrians to cross the road whilst these vehicles are travelling at such high speeds.
All of this is causing a significant impact to our well-being and homes (noise disturbance & vibration).
Residents are on a daily basis unable to drive in or out of their homes due to the extended queues which form regularly as HGV’s hold up the traffic in all directions as they have to take a very wide berth to turn at the junction with Barnton Gardens.
The significant weight of these haulage lorries and other vehicles is also contributing to damage of the recently repaired road surface.
