Safe pedestrian route constructed, including a zebra crossing between Treverlen Park and Figgate Park on Hamilton Drive - Petitions (Open)
Petition details
We call on the City of Edinburgh Council to create a clearly defined and safe pedestrian route between the Treverlen Park entrance and the Figgate Park entrance, including the installation of a zebra crossing across Hamilton Drive. This route is used daily by children and families travelling to and from school, particularly during peak drop-off and pick-up times. At present, the area is unsafe due to traffic congestion, poor visibility, and vehicles parking in ways that obstruct safe crossing. There have been multiple near-miss incidents, reports of pedestrians being struck or bumped by vehicles, and, tragically, a local resident’s cat was killed as a result of traffic in this area. These incidents highlight an urgent need for improved pedestrian safety. Installing a zebra crossing and formalising a pedestrian route would significantly improve safety, reduce risk, and provide children and families with a safe and accessible way to travel to and from school.
