Blackhall Library - temporary closure
As part of the ongoing surveys across the Council’s operational estate, Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) has been identified at Blackhall Library during the initial building survey. Following UK Government guidance, the library will need to close on a temporary basis to allow a more detailed inspection to be carried out to determine if any remedial works are required. We apologise for any inconvenience.
There will be a mobile library vehicle next week beginning Monday 9 October situated in the car park of Davidson Mains Church, 1 Quality St, Edinburgh EH4 5BB.
This will provide customers with the opportunity to return loans, borrow a limited selection of books, apply for bus passes, collect hearing aid batteries and free sanitary products.
(Any reservations that were previously on the bus will now be held at Drumbrae Library, 81 Drum Brae Dr, Edinburgh EH4 7FE and will not be returning to the bus.)
The mobile library will be available on the following dates:
Monday 9 October from 2.30 to 7pm
Tuesday 10 October from 10.30am to 3pm
Wednesday 11 October from 2.30 to 7pm
Thursday 12 October from 10.30am to 3pm
Friday 13 October from 10.30am to 3pm
In the meantime, your nearest alternative libraries are:
• Drumbrae Library Hub, 81 Drumbrae Drive, Edinburgh, EH4 7FE
• Muirhouse Library at Edinburgh College, Granton Campus, 350 West Granton Road, Edinburgh, EH5 1QE
