To access burial records please make a request by email or letter. You cannot access the records in person at Mortonhall Crematorium.
Your request must include the
- name of deceased
- exact date of death
- last address of deceased, if known.
There are a number of privately owned cemeteries in Edinburgh, which keep their own records, so we may not be able to provide the information you are looking for.
Payment is non-refundable if no information is found.
Finding a date of death
If you do not have the exact date of death for us to search our records, you can check on the General Register Office for Scotland website.
