Environment: 

Within this role you will be patrolling public streets and car parks, advising the public of where they can park safely and securely, issuing tickets to incorrectly parked vehicles, reporting suspected abandoned vehicles, and dealing with enquiries from the members of the public. 

What might a day in this role look like?

You will play an important role in keeping Edinburgh's roads safe, accessible and running effectively.  With full training provided, your day-to-day role will include:

  • carrying out parking enforcement in an efficient and courteous manner and enforce the Road Traffic Act 1991 (as amended) in respect of parking controls and traffic regulation orders.
  • liaising with members of the public and giving advice on parking issues and enforcement procedures.
  • issuing penalty charge notices to vehicles in contravention of the regulations on street
  • dealing with members of the public face to face, sometimes in difficult situations.

What will I learn?

You will work towards SCQF Level 6 Diploma in Customer Service. You will also gain valuable work experience and confidence dealing with customers, including building skills in communication, problem solving and responsibility.

What qualifications/skills are required?

You must enjoy dealing with people, be friendly, polite, and willing to offer support, advice and assistance to colleagues and customers. PC skills would also be an advantage, as you will be using a hand-held device daily. Your day will be spent, mostly outside, in all weathers, so please consider this before you apply.
