As a Parking Attendant apprentice with NSL in Edinburgh, you will gain hands on experience, build real world confidence and working towards your SCQF 6 Diploma in Customer Service - all while earning a salary.
You will play an important role in keeping Edinburgh's roads safe, accessible and running effectively. With full training provided your day to day role will include:
• To carry out parking enforcement in an efficient and courteous manner and enforce the Road .
• Traffic Act 1991 (as amended) in respect of parking controls and traffic regulation orders.
• Liaising with members of the public and giving advice on parking issues and enforcement procedures.
• Issuing penalty charge notices to vehicles in contravention of the regulations on street.
We have a number of opportunities available with an immediate start date possible. Assessment days will take place on 22 January, with a second date to be confirmed, so early applications are strongly encouraged.
Environment:
Within this role you will be patrolling public streets and car parks, advising the public of where they can park safely and securely, issuing tickets to incorrectly parked vehicles, reporting suspected abandoned vehicles, and dealing with enquiries from the members of the public.
What might a day in this role look like?
- Your day will be spent, mostly outside, in all weathers, so please consider this before you apply
- You will be dealing with members of the public face to face, so customer service must be something you enjoy, sometimes in difficult situations
- Patrol and enforce contraventions throughout Edinburgh
- High visibility presence to help counter any parking contraventions and issue appropriate Penalty Notices where required.
What will I learn?
You will gain valuable work experience and confidence dealing with customers, including building skills in communication, problem solving and responsibility.
Great opportunity to work towards a SQA recognised qualification, while working with a trusted employer supporting you develop your skills and knowledge.
What qualifications/skills are required?
You must enjoy dealing with people, be friendly, polite, and willing to offer support, advice and assistance to colleagues and customers. PC skills would also be an advantage, as you will be using a hand-held device daily. If you enjoy being outdoors and have great communication skills, we would love to hear from you.
