What might a day in this role look like?
Our Tour Guides are responsible for providing an enjoyable and informative tour of Edinburgh, in English, on an open top bus. You must have the ability to combine knowledge of the cultural heritage of the city with information about current events and not to be missed experiences as well as exhibiting a passion for showing off Scotland’s capital to the world.
What will I learn?
Each tour is unique and unscripted. To help with this, useful information and training will be provided.
What qualifications/skills are required?
- No experience required, but good cultural knowledge of Edinburgh and its history is desirable
- Customer focused - understand, anticipate and deliver on the customers’ needs and expectations on and off the bus
- Good people skills and be able to think on their feet
- Excellent English verbal communication skills are required (our tours are delivered in English only)
- Good presentation skills are required. Guides must be able to engage with their audience and give a lively and entertaining as well as informative tour.
