Help with grass cutting and hedge trimming

If you are elderly or have a disability and need help to look after your garden, you may be eligible for Garden Aid.

Garden Aid offers customers a

  • grass cutting service on a 3 week cycle between March and October
  • hedge trimming service twice a year in June / July and October / November.
Contact the Garden Aid service for more information and how to apply. The application deadline each year is 31 January. Applications for Garden Aid received after this date will be added to a waiting list for the following year.

Eligibility

You are eligible to receive Garden Aid if you are in one of the following categories;

  • Over 60 years of age, in council accommodation and in receipt of housing or council tax reduction
  • Have a disability and in receipt of a Personal Independence Payment (mobility) or a Disability Living Allowance (mobility components)
  • Over 80 years of age 

In addition, there must be no other able-bodied individual 16 years of age or over living in the household. 

Customers with a disability and those applying to be exempt from a service VAT charge are required to have their application certified by a GP.    

Charges

Eligible homeowners and private tenants are charged for this service. Prices range from £72 including VAT, for a small lawn area with no hedge, to £246 including VAT, for a large lawn area with a large hedge. Very large gardens will be subject to additional charges.
