•    The City of Edinburgh Council
•    East Lothian Council
•    Midlothian Council
•    West Lothian Council.

Apply for a P1 place

You don't need any knowledge of Gaelic for entry to P1.

If you live in the City of Edinburgh area please register your child for P1 at Taobh na Pàirce. The school will confirm your place at a later date.

If you live in the Lothians or another local authority, please submit a placing request.

Apply for other primary year groups

If you join Taobh na Pàirce after P1 starts or in P2-P7, we expect you to have a knowledge of Gaelic similar to others in the year group.

Contact the school to request a place. We only offer a place if one is available in your child's year group.

Gaelic in secondary

If you go to Taobh na Pàirce, you will transfer to James Gillespie’s High School automatically, so you can continue your Gaelic studies. You will be told about this in the November of the year before you are due to start S1.

If you don’t go to Taobh na Pàirce, you can apply for S1 at James Gillespie’s High School if you have completed your primary education at another Gaelic medium school.

You can join after S1 starts or in S2-S6 if you attended another Gaelic medium secondary school.

Contact the school to request a place. We only offer a place if one is available in your child's year group.
