Garden Aid

Help with grass cutting and hedge trimming

If you are elderly or have a disability and need help to look after your garden, you may be eligible for Garden Aid.

Garden Aid offers customers

  • a grass cutting service on a 3 week cycle between March and October
  • a hedge trimming service twice a year in June/July and October/November.
Contact the Garden Aid Service for more information or to apply. Please note the application deadline each year is 31 January. Applications for Garden Aid received after this date will be added to a waiting list for the following year.

Eligibility

You can receive Garden Aid if you

  • are over 80 years of age
  • are over 60 years of age and in receipt of housing or council tax benefit, other than the single person or other discount
  • have a disability that prevents you from looking after your garden and are in receipt of housing or council tax benefit, other than the single person or other discount.

However, if you have someone living with you aged 16 or over and in good health, you will not qualify for this service.

Eligible homeowners and private tenants are charged for this service. Prices range from £72 including VAT, for a small lawn area with no hedge, to £246 including VAT, for a large lawn area with a large hedge. Very large gardens will be subject to additional charges.
