Unique Assembly have presented Edinburgh's Christmas and Hogmanay activations since 2022, and Edinburgh’s Christmas welcomed over 2.8m visitors in 2024 to enjoy a spectacular programme of festive fun in the city.

This year Edinburgh's Christmas will include seven weeks (49-days) of seasonal fun across Edinburgh’s city centre, including Traditional Christmas Markets, Funfair Rides, Big Wheel & Around the World Starflyer, Ice Rink, Santa’s Stories, Polar Ice Bar and more.

Environment:

Unique Assembly are looking for keen ice skaters who are confident on the ice and have a background in, or can demonstrate customer service skills! You will be key in the effective operation of their Ice Rink on George Street, and provide help and support to those on the ice and be a part of their customer service team off the ice as well.

Roles are available in Edinburgh from Mid November until 4th of January 2026 and applicants must have availability over the festive period.

Rates of pay are depending on the level of experience you demonstrate but range from £12.60 to £13.60 per hour.

Candidates must be able to work at least 4 shifts per week to include some availability over weekends, limited part time roles are available but weekend working is expected. You must be over the age of 18 and eligible to work in the UK. Unique Assembly are looking for candidates who can demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and a real desire to make Edinburgh's Christmas the very best it can be.

The roles are varied and quite often fast paced and all based in outdoor locations, so you'll need to layer up!

What might a day in this role look like?

• strong skating ability is a must
• assist with the operation of the rink
• assisting with the skate distribution when required and at peak times
• you will be responsible for the safe running of the sessions
• providing help to those in need on the ice. Providing tips and support to those less confident
• be friendly and provide high quality customer service
• ensure everyone’s experience is a positive one
• support with evacuations if required
• attendance at mandatory paid training sessions prior to starting the role
• help with keeping the rink looking its best at all times
• you will be required to assist the ice team to maintain the surface where required

What qualifications/skills are required?

• have significant experience on the ice and be able to demonstrate this. Basic skills will be required to be demonstrated

• be efficient effective communicators able to work with a wide range of people
• be committed to providing a first-class experience to guests
• be aware they will be expected to work across skate hire as well and assist where required
• customer service experience

Rate of Pay: Between £12.60 and £13.60 per hour plus holiday pay. Bank holidays – 26th – 27th December and 1st- 3rd January attract time and a half. You will be paid fortnightly by bank transfer.

Location: Ice Rink on George Street EH2 4JS.

Hours: Edinburgh’s Christmas operates between 11am - 10pm on weekends and varies throughout the week and hours extend in the lead up to Christmas. Hours will not exceed 10am - 10pm.The Ice Rink is open from the 20th of November 2025 until the 4th of January 2026. Training days will take place prior to this depending on the role you’re hired for. We are closed on Christmas Day (25th December). Contracts are based on a minimum 8 hours per week. You will be rostered through our scheduling system. Deputy and this is what will be used to sign in on site.

We require staff who can commit to at least 4 shifts a week over the period.
