Pay

The starting annual salary for a trainee is £16,287 pro rata for term time working.

Working hours

You will work 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday, during term time.

Term time is 39 weeks, 195 days, of the year.

During your traineeship, your week will consist of

  • four and half days working at one of our nurseries or early years centres.
  • one afternoon training with our academy.

The training includes assessments in the work place and written assessments.

An assessor will support you throughout your training. We assign you a mentor for each work placement.

The Scottish Government’s target is to expand funded early learning and childcare from 600 to 1,140 hours by 2020.
