E-Waste Operative/Driver - The Edinburgh Remakery - 18406
Contract: Permanent, Salary: £24,570 - £25,184 per annum, Closing Date: Sunday 1 June

The Edinburgh Remakery is a social enterprise and charity. Our mission is to create a zero-waste society by diverting reusable resources away from landfill and sharing valuable repair and reuse skills with the people in our community. We have a shop premises at Newkirkgate Shopping Centre where we specialise in refurbishing donated tech equipment and selling it at affordable prices in store and through our online shop.
Environment:
The focus of this role will be to operate a robust system for segregation of E-Waste for reuse, recycling and identifying parts for sale. You will be expected to maintain security storage protocols and will be accountable to the E-waste Coordinator. The role includes driving duties to ensure that all our products arrive at their destinations on time and in good condition. You will drive our electric van for collections of E-Waste, through our IT Asset Disposition Service for businesses, ensuring items are collected in accordance with our E-Waste data security procedures. You will also deliver and collect items from our Tech Donation Boxes. What might a day in this role look like?
Essential tasks:
- Disassembling IT equipment
- Sorting materials into specific categories for recycling and disposal
- Make arrangement to ship materials to recycling companies
- Liaising with packing team to sort computers
- Helping moving stock as necessary
- Assessing parts for sale/reuse
- Driving duties for deliveries and collection
- Assisting in warehouse and back store areas
- Cleaning and service of van for the next day delivery.
There may be additions and variations to these tasks depending on the successful candidate and current activities of the organisation. Any changes will be discussed fully beforehand.

What qualifications/skills are required?
We are looking for an energetic, positive, resourceful individual, who loves problem-solving and is a good team player, with an interest in IT refurbishment and good technical skills. We welcome applications from candidates with barriers to employment.
Essential experience/skills:
- Interest in computers
- Interest in hardware and DIY
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to use a computer
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload
- Full driving licence is essential.
Desirable experience:
- Experience in retail or warehouse settings
- Experience of computer refurbishment
- Experience on disassembling IT equipment
- Computer experience is an asset, but not essential.
Information Security responsibilities:
You must adhere to our ISO 27001 standards for information security tasks and functions that you might have to carry out:
- Update of incidents logs
- Media disposal
- Setting up and removal of systems
- Customer information spreadsheets.
