20mph in my area

The rollout of 20mph speed limits in the city centre, residential and shopping streets continues.

The first three phases of the 20mph scheme are now complete.

The new speed limit for phase three came into effect on 16 August 2017. The final phase is planned to come into force on 5 March 2018.

Use our interactive map, or download maps, to see 20mph streets in your area below.

How will I know I am in a 20mph area?

Large 20mph signs will mark the entrance and exit of a 20mph area where the speed limit changes, followed by smaller repeater signs or road markings with the speed limit.
