Private fostering

Private fostering is where parents place their child with a person who is not a close relative for over 28 days. It is an arrangement between parents and a carer or host family.

Contact Social Care Direct to let us know that you are making or have made such an arrangement. You need to do this by law.

We need to ensure the child is safe and we can provide support and advice if appropriate.

Find out about private fostering on the Scottish Government website.
