Processing major applications

Submitting your application

You can apply for planning permission online using the Scottish Government e-Planning service. To ensure you complete the forms correctly and provide the correct fee, please read our planning application guidelines and fees.

Please note from Wednesday 3 January 2018, we will no longer accept cheques for planning applications or building warrants. Payment can be made online when applying through www.edevelopment.scot or telephone payments can be made by phoning 0131 529 3550.

Processing agreements

The Council aim to have a processing agreement in place for all national and major developments.

The concordat sets out how the Council, developers and community councils will work together in the major development process.

Planning obligations

These are legal agreements which may require to be concluded with the Council before any permission is granted. These normally relate to infrastructure improvements for the proposed development.

Edinburgh standards for sustainable buildings form (S1)

All applications, except those relating to householder development must be accompanied by form S1.
