Business rate charges
Business rate charges 2017/18
Non-domestic rates are also known as business rates. They are paid on non-domestic properties by all businesses and companies.
The amount you pay is calculated by multiplying the non-domestic (business) rates per pound by the rateable value of the property your business occupies.
The table below shows non-domestic (business) rates charges for 2015/16.
|NDR||2017/18 pence per £||2016/17 pence per £|
|National Business Rate||46.6 p||48.4 p|
|Properties with rateable value over £35,000||49.2 p||51p *|
|Empty property relief||10%||10%|
*Previously the higher supplement was calculated on properties with a rateable value of over £35,000 which has been increased to £51,000 effective from 01/04/17
The National Business Rate is set by the Scottish Government. Business rates guidance and a calculator are available on the Scottish Business Portal.
Check the rateable value of a property on the Scottish Assessors Association website.
