Commercial waste and recycling collections

The trade waste service is stopping

We will no longer be providing trade waste services to our customers. The last collection will be Friday 1 July 2016, after this date we will no longer collect your trade waste. We will no longer be selling stickers for cardboard or sacks but we will continue to uplift them until you stock of them runs out. You will need to find an alternative collection company as soon as possible. We will write to you before July to confirm the date of your last collection.

What you need to do

You will need to find an alternative collection company, ideally you should do this before your last collection with us. If you find another company sooner, you can cancel your existing contract with us, subject to the notice period.  If you decide to remain as a customer until your last collection then we may contact you to change your collection days.

There are a lot of alternative providers in Edinburgh. You can search for “trade waste” or “waste disposal” online. You can also visit the Business Resource Centre website and search under "other materials" and select the types of waste you have. You can find information on how to comply with your legal Duty of Care at the Resource Efficient Scotland website

Why we are making the changes

Stopping the service was part of the 2016/2017 budget savings plan because it does not make enough money to cover running costs. To cover these it would mean increasing the charges to customers in an already competitive market place.
