Many people, especially those who are elderly or disabled, can find washing, dressing, eating and drinking easier with the help of items such as

Free grab rails and banisters

You can order grab rails and banisters from the Council free of charge and we will deliver and install them in your house. If you don't want to order online, we can send you a catalogue with a form you can post

Alarms, monitors and large equipment

For larger items such as shower chairs or bath hoists or for alarms and monitors your needs must be assessed. You can search for alarms and monitors to find the items you need.

Short term loans

If you need an item for a short while, for example, a wheelchair or walking frame while you are on holiday in Edinburgh, the Red Cross provide a short term loan service.

Returning items

If you, a relative or a friend may have equipment on loan which is no longer needed, please return the items so they can be reused. You can use our Return items form to arrange for us to collect them or find out where you can return them yourself.

We can collect from Edinburgh, East and Midlothian addresses.
