Granton waterfront regeneration
A mixed-use regeneration of vacant land at Granton waterfront has the potential to become one of the best places in Edinburgh to
over the next 10 to 15 years.
The redevelopment includes
- high quality new homes
- new work spaces
- a new primary school
- a new health centre
- high-quality public realm
- refurbs of the Granton gasholder, Granton station and other old buildings where possible.
Work so far
The Council bought the former Granton gasworks in 2018. This lets the Council lead the regeneration and take a place making approach. This will help deliver a new city quarter.
To help shape a vision for Granton waterfront, the Council is creating a development framework and delivery plan to guide future development. By spring or summer 2019 the framework and plan will go to the planning committee for approval as planning guidance.
