Traffic management changes at York Place

As part of ongoing tram works there will be further changes to the traffic management arrangements at York Place to carry out system infrastructure works.

To accommodate these works, we are required to close the west bound carriageway between Broughton Junction and Elder Street at York Place for two nights from Monday 15 August 2022 between the hours of 18:30hrs and 05:00hrs. 

Advanced warning signs will be in place, with appropriate diversion routes in place. 

Further details of diversions are as follows: 

  • Monday 15 August 2022 – Closure of westbound carriageway between Broughton Street – Elder Street 

o    Diversion Route will be via Broughton Street – Albany Street – Abercromby Place – Queen Street Gardens East – Queen Street

  • Tuesday 16 August 2022 - Closure of westbound carriageway between Broughton Street – Elder Street: 

o    Diversion Route will be via Broughton Street – Albany Street – Abercromby Place – Queen Street Gardens East – Queen Street

  • Wednesday 17 August 2022 – The westbound carriage between Broughton and Elder Street at York Place will re-open, however, there will be rolling traffic management arrangements in place from St Andrews Square to Broughton Street  to accommodate works in lane 2 of the east bound carriageway.
  • Thursday 18 August 2022 - Rolling traffic management arrangments will be in place betweent St Andrews Square to Broughton Street to accommodate works in lane 2 of the east bound carriageway.

During these works west bound traffic will re-open and be accessible between 05:00hrs and 20:00hrs. 

Further project works will be required in this area and will be communciated via the project's communciation channels.
