Notification of fence line extension at Arthur Street

Read more about the hard landscaping works at Arthur Street

As part of the Trams to Newhaven Project, reinstatement works are continuing in the surrounding area on the west side of Leith Walk.

We are now required to extend our site lines westbound at the bell mouth of Arthur Street. These changes are expected to take place week commencing Monday 22 November and will take approximately four weeks to complete.

These changes are to accommodate hard landscaping works in the area. The hard landscaping works to be undertaken will include drainage, ducting, kerbing and paving.

Waste management will remain in place in the current location.

Pedestrian diversions will be in place on footways and access to shops, hospitality and leisure units on the west side will always be maintained. However, footways widths may be reduced. In some situations, these might need to be reduced further, but access will be maintained for members of the public, residents, and local shop owners.

Businesses that are currently occupying the footway will have to remove any arrangements in place to accommodate the works, this includes permit holders for hospitality venues removing all table and chairs while these works are being carried out. Businesses will be visited by project representatives ahead of these changes and any concerns can be further discussed.
