Notification of Works at Coatfield Lane Junction

We will be extending our site at Coatfield Lane junction.

The main construction works to take trams to Newhaven commenced from Foot of the Walk to Coatfield Lane in November 2019. Ahead of these works commencing we advised that the site set up would continue from Laurie Street to the junction of Coatfield Lane.

View the traffic management plan (PDF).

We advised that access would be maintained to Coatfield Lane at all times via Queen Charlotte Street with a shuttle lane controlled by temporary traffic signals through Coatfield Lane Junction.

In order to complete this section of works we are now required to extend the site at this junction as per the original plans which will require the install of temporary lights. These works will commence Monday 3 May 2021 and last until approximately Friday 11 June.  Please note that for track laying works through this junction the temporary light setup will be required again, further detail will follow closer to the time.

Following the first site set up across the junction, Morrison Utility Services (MUS) will commence excavation of this small section to clear the area of services. This will allow Sacyr, Farrans, Neopul (SFN) to cross the junction uninterrupted while completing the main infrastructure works.

On completion of this section the works the road will be opened between Coatfield Lane and Laurie Street ahead of works commencing from Coat¬field Lane to Queen Charlotte Street in Autumn 2021. A letter from the project will be issued ahead of these works with further detail.
