Works to install drainage and for public realm improvements on Elm Row began Summer 2021. See estimated timelines of when work will be finished in this area.

Footway improvements are underway on Elm Row. The London Road pillar clock was reinstated on 16 August 2022 following a full restoration. Read more about its return and the restoration process in an interview with specialist clockmakers Smith of Derby.

The eight bronze pigeons are also set to return to Elm Row in autumn 2022.

Montgomery Street

Site lines have been extended into Montgomery Street to facilitate the installation of attenuation pipes, which will help improve surface water drainage in the area.

As of 24 October 2022 and for approximately two weeks, site lines will be extended towards properties on the north side of the Montgomery Street / Leith Walk junction to accommodate utility works. Pedestrian diversions will be in place and footway width will be reduced but access will be maintained at all times. Read more about the changes to the site working area in our news article.

Logistic Hubs

The Logistics Hub on Montgomery Street will be operational to help with deliveries and dispatches. This will also be the location for businesses presenting their trade waste. Please make contact with your trade waste provider to inform them of this change. Help will also be at hand at the Logistics Hub for residents expecting large deliveries such as appliances or furniture.

Traffic Management

All parking and loading on Elm Row will be suspended. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during these works, including access to businesses. The project will assess the traffic management arrangements throughout the construction period and make amends where required.

Please note that the crossing point at Elm Row has been relocated approximately 100 meters northbound in late June.
