Constitution Street Closure: Foot of the Walk to Coatfield Lane
Constitution Street will be closed both Northbound and Southbound between the Foot of the Walk and Coatfield Lane.
No access will be provided both Northbound and Southbound at these closure points for any vehicular traffic including cyclists. Diversion routes will be clearly signed for all traffic, but cyclists can use the option of dismounting and using the available footpaths. Footpath closures may be necessary, any requirement to restrict or remove footpaths will becommunicated to you in advance of any works commencing.
Emergency services access
The traffic management plans have been created in consultation with the emergency services and we have agreed a process where access through the site can be provided in emergencies.
Parking and access
All parking and loading provision will be suspended on Constitution Street between Foot of the Walk and Coatfield Lane.
The footpath on the West side of Constitution Street between Kirkgate House and Coatfield Lane will be closed to facilitate works and pedestrians will be diverted to the footpath on the East side of Constitution Street. Dedicated non-signalised pedestrian crossing points will be created at these locations.
Access will be maintained into Kirkgate House at all times via Laurie Street. To facilitate this all parking / loading will be suspended on Laurie Street. This access will be a single lane only, maintained via a priority system. This system was chosen due to very low traffic flows. This lane will be maintained in 2 phases to allow the works on Constitution Street to be completed.
Access will also be maintained into Coatfield Lane at all times via Queen Charlotte Street. Access and egress to and from Constitution Street will be maintained via a shuttle lane controlled by temporary traffic signals.
