With the cycleway along Melville Street complete we are now continuing with the planned public realm work to the Melville Crescent diamond.

This work will improve the area and give much more space to pedestrians with designated seating and landscaped areas.

The work will start on 24 April and continue for nine months with our contractor Balfour Beatty.

Road closures and traffic restrications

Walker Street North will be closed for the full duration of the work and Walker Street South, from William Street to Melville Street will be one way for northbound traffic only. A three- way traffic control will be in place on Melville Street.

View the traffic management arrangements.

On street parking will be suspended on Melville Crescent and Walker Street. If you need access for nonregular deliveries or home moves, please email us with plenty of notice so we can support you. ccwel@edinburgh.gov.uk

Safety and minimising disturbance is our priority

During construction, pedestrian and traffic management measures will be installed and maintained to make sure the work can be carried out safely for everyone, including residents, businesses and our workforce. We will reduce the impact of work as much as much as possible, but it is inevitable that major construction work will cause temporary periods of disturbance in the area. We will do our best to minimise this disturbance.
