Teachers

This section of the Candidate Portal has dedicated Teachers guidance for Teaching staff, taken from the Terms and Conditions of Employment, and Statement of Particulars.

These will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff as amended by circulars issued by the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers (SNCT), as adopted by the City of Edinburgh Council and supplemented by any local collective agreements made by the Council.

Fully registered teachers who are newly appointed to the City of Edinburgh Council are encouraged to attend our half-day new employee induction. Speak to your line manager. Take a look at the CPD Directory for professional learning opportunities on our edinburgh.gov.uk website.

As a Probationer on the Teacher Induction Scheme you're offered a one-year contract with the City of Edinburgh Council to enable you to work towards full registration with GTC Scotland.

Probationers can access a core and optional programme of professional learning to support development in key areas of the Standard for Registration. 

Probationers undertaking the Flexible Route towards full registration are also supported within school and can access the core and optional programme of professional learning. Information is contained within the Teacher Induction Handbook and the GTCS website.
