Parks and open spaces
Edinburgh has a huge number of public parks, gardens and other green spaces. From large historical areas like Princes Street Gardens, Inverleith Park and The Meadows, to small local parks a short walk or cycle from your home. There are hundreds of play parks for the kids, sports pitches, exercise equipment and miles of woodland, wildflower meadows and riverside strolls.
What we do
The team are responsible for
- visitor and Ranger services, including Pentland Hills Regional Park
- investment and maintenance of parks assets and play equipment
- delivery of lighting in parks and toilets and cafes
- development and implementation of the city’s parks and greenspaces strategies and action plans including Million Tree City and Thriving Greenspaces.
They also look after the Council's three botanic gardens in Princes Street, Saughton, and Lauriston Castle.
