Disability Confident accreditation

Disability Confident accreditation

We have been accredited as a Disability Confident Employer.  This is a new scheme run by the Department for Work and Pensions that aims to help employers make the most of the opportunities provided by employing disabled people.

The scheme is voluntary and has been developed by employers and disabled people's representatives.  One of its key aims is to promote the skills and talents of disabled people, who are often under-represented and under-utilised and remain out of reach for many businesses.

As a Disability Confident employer, we

  • have undertaken and successfully completed the Disability Confident self-assessment
  • are taking all the core actions to be a Disability Confident employer
  • are offering at least one activity to get the right people for our business and at least one activity to keep and develop our people.

Why it's important

Being accredited demonstrates to our current and potential employees, that we have a positive approach to employing disabled people.

As part of the Scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancies. Reasonable adjustments for disabled candidates will also be considered at interview at the candidate's request.
