Our Edinburgh by Numbers report provides a statistical look at Edinburgh in comparison with other major UK in eight key areas: population, work, economy, tourism, education, environment, property and travel and connectivity.
The 15th annual edition of Edinburgh by Numbers report covers the past ten years’ (2010 to 2020/21) and gives a snapshot of a Edinburgh during the pandemic. It paints a comprehensive picture of the city’s landscape while also bringing to life our three key priorities - as laid out in our business plan, ‘Our Future Council, Our Future City’ – ending poverty, becoming net zero and enhancing wellbeing.
We’ve published the report every year since 2007, and it features the latest data available from multiple national and regional sources such as the Office for National Statistics, National Records of Scotland or the Scottish Household Survey, amongst many others. There are some datasets that have not been updated for 20/21 and for these sections the data and charts from the previous year continue to be shown.
