Food and animal feeding stuffs

We test foods and animal feeding stuffs to ensure that they are free from pathogenic bacteria and to assess hygiene standards. Tests can be carried out for routine quality control purposes, including shelf life testing, or to check that the product meets legal standards.

Types of materials include

Drinking water

We carry out tests for routine monitoring purposes, to investigate complaints or to check compliance with legal standards.

Environmental materials

We check a range of environmental materials for the presence of micro-organisms. These include testing

• air conditioning systems, including cooling towers and shower heads for legionella
• sewage contamination in recreational water, soil and vegetation.

Accreditation

We hold UKAS accreditation for testing (Laboratory No 1005) in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements.

Our scope of accredited activities includes both microbiological and polymerase chain reaction DNA techniques.

We are accredited by UKAS for microbiological testing, including the DWTS standard for water testing, and provide a food examiner service for food and animal feeding stuffs testing.
