Steps to making the LEZ
Before the following statutory steps were completed, we undertook initial consultations in 2018 and 2019. We also completed an 'options appraisal', based on the outcomes of these consultation and scientific modelling:
- Council undertakes consultation (Summer 2021)
- Council publishes report on consultation findings (October 2021)
- Publication of proposals (January 2022)
- Objections (March 2022)
- Proposed LEZ Scheme submitted to Scottish Ministers for approval (March 2022)
- Scottish Ministers approve Scheme (19 May 2022)
- Council publish notice to make the LEZ Scheme (31 May 2022)
The Final Scheme has been designed and developed in accordance with:
- Transport (Scotland) Act 2019
- The Low Emission Zones (Scotland) Regulations 2021
- The Low Emission Zones (Emission Standards, Exemptions and Penalty Charges) (Scotland) Regulations 2021
