Local and national events to pay respects to HM The Queen

National Moment of Reflection 

Join a National Moment of Reflection to mourn the passing of Her Majesty The Queen and reflect on her life and legacy.

8pm Sunday 18 September

You might like to mark the one-minute silence privately at home, with friends and family, out on doorsteps or the street with neighbours, or at locally arranged community events and vigils.

Details of larger-scale public events to be held across the country will be updated regularly by the Cabinet Office.

Live screening of funeral 

The funeral service for Her Majesty The Queen will be broadcast live on a big screen in Holyrood Park in front of the Palace of Holyroodhouse

Monday 19 September

Screening the BBC’s coverage from 8am until 5pm.

The ceremony is at 11am.

Entry is free and unticketed. You are welcome to attend and pay your final respects.

Plan ahead

As the event is outdoors, dress for the weather and bring plenty of water.

Toilets will be available however there will be no seats, so suggest you bring blankets or chairs.

We'll have extra litter bins and please note that BBQs will not be allowed.

Queen’s Drive will be closed to general traffic. Disabled parking will be available in Broad Pavement car park on a first come, first served basis.

There will be no change to parking restrictions or parking charges.

Lothian Buses will be running a Sunday service on Monday. Edinburgh Trams will be operating as normal. Check Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams to stay informed about their services on the day of the funeral.
