Please refer to planning validation guidelines for information about what to include as part of your submission.

Calculating your fee

Most planning applications must be accompanied by a planning application fee. Without a fee an application cannot be validated for assessment. The fee will depend on the type and scale of the proposed development.

Please use the fee calculator or refer to our fees charter.

A surcharges of 25% for retrospective applications will come into force on 1 October 2022. For details, refer to our fees charter. If you are submitting a retrospective application it is important that you highlight this at the time of submission. The surcharge will not be calculated when an application is submitted on e-planning.

After your submission

Your application will normally be acknowledged within 5 working days. The letter will give you an expected date of when a decision will be made or let you know that further information is needed.

If we feel your application may be more likely to be approved with amendments, we will write to you asking you to change it.

Find out how applications are dealt with on the e-Planning website.
