As part of the statutory process, the proposals were formally advertised in late 2021. The consultation ran from Friday 22 October until Sunday 5 December 2021, when the draft traffic order and plans of the proposed restrictions were available to view. Objections, comments and queries were invited.

We are now considering all the objections received and need to make a decision on the next steps for the proposal. Unfortunately, a report on this matter was unable to be heard at the Transport and Environment Committee in March 2022 and is now scheduled to be heard at the next committee meeting in August 2022.

Phase 2

An informal consultation process took place in February and March 2021. The results of that consultation were reported to the Transport and Environment Committee in August 2021.

Committee decided that monitoring of the potential impacts of Phase 1 ( should it proceed to implementation) and further engagement on the design and detail of the Phase 2 proposal, should be undertaken before a decision is taken on the future of phase 2.
