Latest progress in your area

Phase 1

The legal process to introduce parking controls into the phase 1 area has now reached the formal advertising stage.

The formal consultation period starts on Friday 22 October and runs until Friday 7 November. View the draft traffic order. To view the plans showing what is proposed for your area, and to find out how you can make your views known to us, please visit our consultation pages.

This formal part of the process follows an informal consultation, which took place in October and November of 2019. The results of that consultation were reported to the Transport and Environment Committee in January 2021.

The committee approved the start of the legal process to introduce controlled parking zones into the areas covered by phase 1. Several amendments were also approved, taking account of feedback received during the informal consultation process.

The proposed design has also been developed to take account of other Council initiatives, including 

Phase 2

An informal consultation process took place in February and March 2021. The results of that consultation were reported to the Transport and Environment Committee in August 2021.

Committee decided that further monitoring of the potential impacts of phase 1, should it proceed to implementation, should be undertaken before a decision is taken on the future of phase 2.

Phase 3

An informal consultation took place in April and May 2021. The results of this consultation will be reported to an upcoming meeting of the Transport and Environment Committee.

An informal consultation took place in August and September 2021. The results of this consultation will be reported to an upcoming meeting of the Transport and Environment Committee.
