Meet me half way

Choose to walk, wheel or cycle this summer

Our city is starting to get back to business as usual. As measures put in place to control the spread of COVID-19 are relaxed, this is an exciting time for all.

The return to some normality doesn’t mean we need to go back to doing everything we did before. In the last year and a half more people are now choosing to walk, cycle and wheel.

Daily strolls for physical exercise or cycling to work while restrictions were in place on public transport, active travel has benefited so many of us during the pandemic. We are keen to see that continued.

Shall we meet halfway?

As we start to reconnect with our city we’re asking everyone who is able to consider making at least part of their journey by walking, wheeling or cycling instead of taking the car.

Before heading out, be sure to check out our handy tips below to make the best of your meet ups:

  • Plan your walks, cycles, lunches, cultural and festival visits before you head out
  • Head to Forever Edinburgh to discover old haunts and new favourites
  • Go discover - our city is full of wonderful green flag parks (the most of any city in the UK), off street walks and cycleways. Why not take a different route and discover something new while on your way?
  • Look around you. When was the last time you looked up around where you live? Give it a go – you might be surprised what you find.
  • Stick to it. Even on those days where you just can’t be bothered, try to keep to your plans. By the time you get home, you’ll be glad you did.

By meeting halfway, we can all help create a greener, cleaner and healthier city.
