The City of Edinburgh Council

63 members are elected to the City of Edinburgh Council.

Local Government elections use the Single Transferable Vote system where each voter numbers a list of candidates. Their favourite as number one, their second favourite number two, and so on. Voters can put numbers next to as many or as few candidates as they like. Parties will often stand more than one candidate in each ward.

There are 17 wards in the City of Edinburgh Council area.

Andrew Kerr is the Returning Officer.

The next election will be held on Thursday 5 May 2022.
