Following the Council Tax Amendment Regulations 2016 we no longer offer a discount on second homes from 1 April 2017.
In order for your property in Edinburgh to be considered as a second home the following qualifying criteria must be met:
- The property must be lived in for 25 days a year or more (based on a 12 month rolling period)
- It must be furnished
- It cannot be anyone’s sole or main address
If this criteria is not met your property would be treated as an empty property and not a second home. Additional charges could therefore apply depending on the period the property has remained empty.
