Volunteers aged 18+ required across Edinburgh to provide 3 to 4 hours of care and support for families with a child with a disability on a regular weekly / fortnightly basis. The service is delivered in the family home allowing the parent / carer some time away from their caring responsiblities to spend time with non disabled siblings, take up an activity or interest or simply spend some time with another adult or partner.
Successful volunteers must be able to obtain PVG membership and supply 2 references. Attendance at Induction Training (delivered over 2 Saturday mornings) and Certificated First Aid and Food Hygeine and Infection control training sessions are also a requirement.
Volunteers who want to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence around caring for children with disablity can be matched with an experienced worker in the first instance if required.
