Edinburgh Choices - Cedar Project

Name Catriona Robertson,CEDAR Edinburgh Children and Young People’s Co-ordinator

Cedar (Children Experiencing Domestic Abuse Recovery) work with children, young people and their mothers recovering from living with domestic abuse. We run a 12 week programme with groups for children and young people, and for their mothers. The groups give mothers and children a chance to explore feelings with a focus on fun and creative activities. These help children to engage with the group and with their mothers, and to interact with each other. The aim is to create a safe place for children and their mothers to help each other to find the best ways to deal with their experiences and rebuild their lives. The programme is designed is to help mothers to support their children in their recovery.
