Council venues and events - Coronavirus update

Update: Monday 4 January

On Monday 4 January, the First Minister announced that mainland Scotland moves from Level 4 to a temporary lockdown on Tuesday 5 January. We are currently reviewing all our services and will be updating this information as soon as we're able. 


Our City Art Centre is closed.

All of our other museums and galleries remain closed, including The Museum of Edinburgh, Museum of Childhood, The People’s Story, The Writers’ Museum, Queensferry Museum, Lauriston Castle, Scott Monument and Nelson Monument.

We don’t have dates for reopening but are working through options in line with Scottish Government guidelines when they are issued.

The Usher Hall, Assembly RoomsChurch Hill Theatre and Ross Bandstand remain closed.

Events and classes

We are continuing to offer community based adult learning classes online.  This includes ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), Family Learning, Outlook, all Literacy/Numeracy classes and English classes for Syrian refugees

All of our community-based adult learning classes based in community centres and libraries, and all of our Active School extracurricular clubs, are cancelled until further notice.
