Recycling and waste collections
Update: Monday 4 January
On Monday 4 January, the First Minister announced that mainland Scotland moves from Level 4 to a temporary lockdown on Tuesday 5 January. We are currently reviewing all our services and will be updating this and other pages on our website as soon as we're able.
Find out about our recycling and waste collections. There may be some further disruption to services over the coming weeks and we really appreciate your patience and understanding at this time. Check for the latest updates and delays information
Kerbside glass collections - blue box
Blue box collections restarted from Tuesday 28 April. Check your collection calendar for your blue box collection date.
We understand that you may have excess glass to be collected but would ask you to make sure you only put out one blue box, with no excess glass for collection. Please store any excess glass that doesn’t fit into your blue box at home and put it out on another collection date. Lifting boxes that are too heavy, because of the weight of glass, can pose a health risk to our crews so we’re not able to collect more than one box per collection.
Kerbside garden waste collections - brown bins
Garden waste collections restarted from 11 May. Check your collection calendar for your next scheduled collection date. Collections may run later than usual so please leave your bin out until 10pm if it has not been collected.
We understand that you may have built up excess garden waste over the last few weeks but please keep hold of any excess that doesn’t fit in your bin and put it out over your next collection dates. Overflowing and heavy bins or waste placed at the side of bins won’t be collected.
To make up for missed collections during the service suspension, we’re extending your permit to cover this time. The current service year for brown bin collections was due to end on 4 October, however, we’re extending this until 8 November.
Collections of bulky waste items
This service is very busy. If you can, please book a visit to your local household waste recycling centre instead
Bin delivery and repair
Request bins or recycling boxes bin deliveries and uplifts of any unwanted waste containers restarted on 15 June.
All our communal bin services are currently running.
Kerbside non-recyclable waste collections - grey bins
We’re collecting grey bins as normal. Please ensure your bin is presented for collection for 6am as there may be changes to your collection time. If you have symptoms of Coronavirus you must put your personal waste, such as used tissues and cleaning cloths, in a plastic rubbish bag, tie it when full, then double bag it by putting it in another bag. After 72 hours you can put it in your grey / black bin for collection.
Kerbside food waste collections
We’re collecting food waste as normal. Please ensure your kerbside food waste bin is presented for collection for 6am as there may be changes to your collection time.
Kerbside mixed recycling collections - green bins
We’re collecting green bins as normal. Please ensure your bin is presented for collection for 6am as there may be changes to your collection time. Do not put used tissues or glass in your green bin – put these in your grey bin instead.
Request help to put out your bins. We’re now able to accept new requests for assisted collections.
We might experience disruption to some of our bin collections today due to staff shortages. Remember to check our delays information to see if your area may have been affected.
