About the communal bin review
We want to improve our recycling and waste services for people living in flats and to improve the look of our neighbourhoods.
The project will make it easier for residents to recycle by ensuring they have access to a full range of recycling bins and improved bin signage to make it easier to know what goes in each bin. We have also redesigned the informaton leaflet to help you to understand how to reduce, re-use and recycle your waste.
An assessment of all the sites has already taken place and we’ve reviewed which bins are already available and where new bins need to be installed. As part of the assessment we have ensured that the sites will comply with regulations and help make it easier to recycle.
We plan to create bin hubs from 2021 throughout the city for
- non-recyclable waste
- food waste
- plastic, tins, cans, paper and cardboard.
We held information events through August and September 2020 in various locations throughout the city to advise residents about what the bin hubs will look like, and answered questions. More information events will take place as we introduce the changes.
