If you’re looking for groups or activities happening in Edinburgh that can help you become fitter, happier and more active, you’ve come to the right place!

No matter what your age or current level of fitness, being active and doing exercise is good for you. As well as lowering your risk of developing major illnesses such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes it can help you lead a happier, healthier life. It doesn't need to cost any money either!

Everyone can get involved with groups and activities - it's just a matter of finding the right activity for you!

· Edinburgh Leisure - the city's biggest sport and leisure provider. They provide a wide variety of sports and activities with many payment and membership options. Discounts are available for older adults, juniors and people with a low income.

· Edinburgh Leisure Ageing Well - Edinburgh Leisure's project specifically for older adults.  Exercises and activities can be adapted to suit people's abilities.

· EVOC Red Book - a large database of groups and activities for people of all ages in Edinburgh.

· NHS Couch to 5k - a great running plan for people who want to train for a 5k for the first time.  There are also links to helpful tips and articles

· Living It Up - a resource aimed at people aged 50+ who may be living with long term health conditions.  There are tools to help with monitoring health and to find new hobbies.

· BBC Sport Get Inspired - a website with lots of hints and tips about getting more active, and an activity finder to find out what's going on near you.
