Take part in the World Record Breaking Walking Bus

Published: Wednesday, 20 June 2012

Brake the road safety charity are asking schools to sign up for the sixth world record breaking walking bus on Wednesday 20th June 2012

At 10am on Wednesday 15 June 2011 more than 100,000 kids marched for road safety from their school gates in the annual Giant Walking Bus! This brilliant event is part of the Kids Say Slow Down campaign and raises awareness of the dangers of traffic and how cool it is to walk, and raises funds for Brake's services for road crash victims. Every year we try to beat our own world record too for the biggest walking bus! You can see pictures of last year's event by clicking here. Let's make 2012 the biggest ever!

Kids of all ages from London to as far afield as Hebridian islands all take part in this giant march for a giant reason: to say no to speeding drivers, and yes to walking! Half our kids are driven to school, increasing pollution and danger. It doesn't matter whether your bit of the march has five kids in it or 700, you can take part and make a difference!

More information on how to sign up for the 2012 event on Wednesday 20th June can be found on the Brake website.

Please also email the City of Edinburgh Council Road Safety Team to let us know you are taking part.
