What's changed for planning users?
Planning applications are now processed through the ePlanning service provided by the Scottish Government. A guide explaining how current users move their draft submissions over will also be made available - users will have until 10th April 2012 to complete this process before the old service is turned off. If you've not already done so, you will need to register with ePlanning to submit new applications.
What else is changed?
As well as changes to how planning applications are submitted, there has also been some more minor changes to the portal.
Renaming the portal:
Following customer research we concluded that new users find the term "portal" confusing and preferred the term "online services". As such, the new portal has been renamed to be called "Planning and Building Standards online services". Whilst we appreciate this may be confusing at first, it will help new users in using our online services.
Reworking the homepage:
After our refresh in October we found that a number of users were confused by the log in box. The homepage has now been revised to take this onboard. We have also revised the page to separate it into Planning services and Building Standards services.
New address:
The new address for Planning and Building Standards online services is: www.edinburgh.gov.uk/planninganddevelopmentonline. The old address will only be in use for a short period of time so please ensure you update your bookmarks.
